Vloedbos Vacation Resort sits in the Overberg between Caledon and Bredasdorp, about 45 km from Hermanus on the R326. It’s a proper family resort - 56 grassy campsites plus self-catering units - and one of the best places in the Western Cape to bring kids, with super tubes, pools, a petting zoo and a games room all on site.
Getting there
It’s an easy run on tar via the R326, roughly 45 km from Hermanus and handily placed between Caledon and Bredasdorp - reachable in any vehicle.
The campsites
There are 56 grassy campsites laid out in rows, each with electrical and water points and a braai stand (bring your own grid). We stayed at P6, an easy walk from the ablutions over two little bridges. The one thing to know up front: the sites are tightly packed, with not much more than a single tree separating you from your neighbour. For a busy family resort it works, but if you’re after seclusion, bear it in mind. Self-catering units are available too.

- Trampolines have a 70 kg limit; under-10s need supervision.
Ablutions & facilities
The ablutions are compact and well within reach of the sites, with wide, roomy showers and lots of basin space. There’s a family bathroom with a toilet and a bath, a scullery with plenty of washing-up space, laundry facilities for longer stays, and a dedicated porta-potty cleaning area for caravanners. Wi-Fi is available across the resort.
The activity hub
Near the ablutions you’ll find the shop and the main hub of activity - this is where the super tubes, slides and a kids’ play area all are. The pool area has pools of different depths, and the games room next door has table tennis and pool (hire bats and cues from the shop) plus a TV that turns into a sports lounge on big match days.

Slides, putt-putt & more
The super tube is the headline ride, with a faster speed slide alongside it, and there’s a cold-water pool where you land. Putt-putt is up by the super tube (about R20 per person per game, 13 holes), and there’s target shooting (around R65 per person), trampolines (70 kg limit, under-10s supervised) and a petting zoo with rabbits and more. Just note nearly everything carries a small fee - only some of the outdoor pools are free - so budget for the extras. Don’t miss the heated pool by the men’s ablutions; it makes a cold morning very easy.
Shop, boma & restaurant
The shop is well stocked - wood (including wonderwood), frozen treats and slushies for the kids, rabbit food for the petting zoo, and the basics. Behind it sits the boma, a hireable amphitheatre-style braai space that’s ideal for groups and parties. There’s also a communal braai lapa, and the on-site Impala restaurant for when you’d rather not cook. It’s a relaxed, busy, kid-filled resort - exactly what it sets out to be.
